Split to Lastovo Ferry

The furthest main Dalmatian island from Split. That distance is the reason to go.

The route

Split → Lastovo / Ubli (Jadrolinija)
Journey: ~5h (via Hvar, Vis, Korčula) Type: Catamaran Cars: No Frequency: 1 daily
Split → Lastovo / Ubli (Krilo)
Journey: ~4h 30min (via Hvar, Vis) Type: Catamaran Cars: No Frequency: 1 daily (seasonal)

If you want to bring a car, the only option is the Jadrolinija car ferry to Vela Luka on Korčula, then a local ferry to Lastovo. Check current timetables — connections change seasonally and require planning ahead.

Fewer connections than anywhere else

Lastovo has the most limited ferry connections of any main Dalmatian island. In shoulder season there is often only one departure per day in each direction. Check times carefully before you plan. Missing the last ferry means staying on the island — not the worst outcome, but plan for it rather than discover it at the dock.

What Lastovo is actually like

No mass tourism. In August, when Hvar town is crowded to the point of being unpleasant, Lastovo has a few hundred visitors. The island is a designated nature park with dark-sky protection — almost no light pollution, and a clear view of the Milky Way on cloudless nights.

The village of Lastovo itself sits inland, hidden from the sea. This is an unusual layout, designed historically to protect against pirate raids. The harbour at Ubli is functional, not pretty. That's fine. The island around it is.

Practical notes

No car rental on the island. Options are a scooter rental in Ubli, a bicycle, or arranging transport with local taxi drivers. Most accommodation can help arrange this in advance. Bring more cash than you think you need.
